Working Together To Get It Right!

Photography has taught me many things. I see the world differently than I used to, I am constantly thinking of composition (ha),

more time looking at people’s body language, I push myself harder and this list could go on for a very long time! Don’t worry…I won’t bore you anymore!

I’ve been given so many amazing opportunities since starting this circus adventure in my life.

People knocking on my door and giving me a chance to capture them, their children, their love and life….and their work.

A few months back I approached a local business, Daisy Cakes Cafe, about teaming up and working together. I was pleasantly suprized when she agreed.

This was new territory for me….so I tread cautiously. I know my way around a photo, that’s for sure….but when she asked about design…well,

I was a little less than certain in my abilities, but I tried my hand at it because  the worst that could happen was that I sucked. So what!

First I took photos of the unbelievable cakes Tina made:

AREN’T THEY GORGEOUS?

I arrived just in time to see her adding the finishing touches to the rainbow/butterfly one.

And of course I peek around at the food and decor again. It a calm and a beautiful place to sit and enjoy a big piece of cheesecake and a coffee!

Great, now I’m hungry! Sheesh……

…back to the point right…ok, so i took those photos of the 3 cakes and designed 3 business cards for her. She liked them all, so she went ahead and ordered all 3 designs:

TAH DAH! I can say that I am VERY pleased with them.

So my adventure continues. I hope it brings me new challenges and new faces……and all the “old” faces too.

Oh, and before I go…….

I think a mess is a good thing. It shows how hard she works making cakes that people love. She loves what she does, that’s easy to see.

I hope her and I continue to work together…who knows where the opportunity can lead us…….

Busy, busy, CRAZY busy……JULY!

Well, July is my “CRAZY” month. I have 2 birthdays that need to be planned, paid and partied. I have been working on all the advertising for the Gretna Hot Spot Festival coming up 2 weeks. I am also doing sessions, my oldest is out of school for summer, we got a puppy………we are CRAZY busy! Meet Bella:

For the month of July I am offering $15 off ANY session. So give me a call to set up your day as mine are filling quickly.

I have also recently made a bit of a change with the end results. I have been selling prints for the past 9 months or so

but have had so many inquiries for a disk that I am now selling a disk with all the edited sessions photos.

I am so happy to be making clients happy!

(You know what……..if you mention this blog entry when you call/email to book a session date, I will give you another $10 off the session fee.)

Talk to you soon!

Birth.

There is nothing more exciting than getting the call that your client is in labour. I got that call on Sunday, June 28th. I did a few errands and then made my way to the hospital. It was going slow……her water had broke at 7:30am and it was 8pm when I left for the night because there had been no progress, still 1 cm dilated.

At 6am I got another call to come back in.  So I jumped in the shower and took off. 2 of my kids were feeling sick, thankfully my hubby stayed home to get them better.

It was 10am that they got transferred to another hospital and 1:30pm when she finally got induced, after very little change over the past 30 hours.

Then the “party” got started!!!

Here we had just arrived to the new hospital.

Mommy was smitten and knew the 39 hours of labour was VERY WORTH IT!

Congratulations A & A! It was an absolute pleasure to have experienced every moment with you both.

I am looking forward to the newborn photo! :)
